Blog #41 Instagram Post 3: Cast Announcement

Now that filming for Robert and Cole is done, I can finally announce them in the cast through the second poster. It was important to wait until they actually showed up for filming, as extras are prone to cancel, and I did not want to false advertise to my audience. I will be posting the poster I made on blog #34, with and added description and audio/ music. 

Here is my third instagram post.

I decided to keep the description simple, to focus on the poster and the information provided on it, really pushing on the "coming soon" angle, employing and persuading my audience to follow my account leading up to the release of the film. I used many hashtags like my pervious instagram post to push my posts onto people interested in the horror genre and short films. I also have been using the hashtag “#flawlessshort” to create a brand for my film. I also used the song "Love Song" by Softcult on the post, to market the romance genre hybridity present in my film, also after filming I am leaning towards using the song in my film itself, so by using it here I can give the accurate vibe/ atmospher that will be present in the film.

I am especially proud that my post was liked by Horror ShowFest which is an official horror film festival affiliated with FilmFreeway, which proves my posts have been working quite well to promote my film to my desired audience.

  The Empty Man (2020) I want to make a horror short film that focuses on a single character who is alone in their house and is stalked and attacked by cult members. I plan to include a practical gore set piece in my short film, and I plan to base my short film off of themes of self love, identity, worthlessness and toxic relationships. Right now my ideas and plans are all over the place, and I will do research and brainstorming to lower down my thoughts and get a solid story with clear messaging. I also want to look back at my previous final project, which is also a horror film with a gore set piece, and piece out criticisms and improvements I can make this time around. As I am creating a short film focusing mainly on one character I will also look into short and effective forms of character development, so that my film can introduce it's character, play out its story and have clear messaging in a natural pace that keeps the audience entertained throughout.
