Blog #35 Creating Poster 2 & Filming Dates
I decided that filming at my house could take place on Friday February 20th and Saturday February 21st, along with filming at school on Monday February 23rd (able for change if any actors are unable to attend due to classes). And thankfully, all of my actors confirmed they would be available those dates, so now I can announce the full cast in a second poster, while I had Cole Bryant and Robert Sokoll on to play the two cultmembers already, during my previous project one of my actors had to drop out late, so I wanted to be sure about the final cast when I announced them.
For my second poster I wanted to create something similar but different to my first poster, something that could be more artistic then just the title and background. I plan to use photography or art as the main part of the poster.
Now that I have my ideas and purpose down, I can start creating my poster
here is the artwork I created for the poster. I chose to use artwork over photography as I reminisce all the movie posters Ive seen, and the ones that stick out to me the most are always more artistic and don't include stills or pngs straight from the movie. I chose to create this in pen (not just because its my strongest art method) but because it is the most raw, and really gives off the grungy vibe I want my film to have. I chose the likeness of a women/ Anna (although I didn't really try to capture Lauren's likeness as the face in the artwork is severely mangled; which I chose as a way to hint at Anna's malicious truth of being a part of a cult, while also hinting at how Dillon is killed, getting his skull smashed open.
Now that I have finished the artwork I can add the titling, I specifically designed the hair to cover a majority of the paper, so that I could use that space for titles.
Here is the final poster, I thought I would continue to use the reverse reflection of the title like in my first title and title card, but alittle more creatively, almost creating a border around the artwork with the titles. I continued to use the gothic font I used in my last poster/ titlecard, and I will continue to use it, creating a brand for my film's marketing.
