Blog #63 Flawless Critical Reflection

Going back as early as I can on this project, I remember as I finished my AICE level project I looked forward to A level, and I was already brainstorming ideas. My ideas had two constants; horror, and gore. My main thought was “how could I up the gore from this year?”. The ideas came naturally to me, I love movies, and horror is my favorite genre. One of the earliest things that stuck through the whole project is the cults, and the boyfriend and girlfriend dynamic. I had thoughts of this way before we started our blogs or anything revolving around the project. The idea I was set on the most before I settled on my current projects story, was a boyfriend and girlfriend investigating a ghost town, where the girlfriend gets captured by a cult for sacrifice, and the boyfriend follows and tries to save her; only to find out she was a part of the cult, and eventually this would lead to a climax where the boyfriend character is in a ritual and being forced to rip the skin and flesh off his bod...

Blog #61 Minor Task 2: Social Media/ Instagram

  Here is my Instagram page's profile and links tab. Here I have my profile picture of the SplitSpine logo, including the description of the SplitSpine production company. I also have the Links to; my Youtube channel, the Flawless Spotify playlist, and the final cut of Flawless itself. Here is my first Instagram post I posted SplitSpine's logo, and the description of the production company. Here is my second Instagram Post I revealed the film's title: Flawless, and had the synopsis in the description, also revealing the 2 leads: Gavin Jordan and Lauren Davis. Blog #60 Minor Task 1: Post Card

  here is the front of my post card Here is the back of my post card I chose FREAK SHOW Horror Film Festival as my film festival, as it is local, in Orlando, acouple hours away, and because it specializes in horror films, allowing my film to truly shine, and be viewed by my exact target audience. I included the address to Freak Show on the front of the card, allowing attendees to find it easily. The screening dates and times are listed on the back of the card, with the premire on March 6th, 7 Days before the films public release on YouTube(mentioned in my Instagram).

Blog #59 Creating a Popcorn Bucket

  Here is my popcorn bucket advertisement Popcorn buckets have become one of the biggest and most viral pieces of movie marketing, creating fun and unique (and mostly impractical) ways for fans to eat their popcorn at the movie theater. The best popcorn buckets - the ones that go viral, are usually crazy ideas, gaining traction online and giving the film more tickets sold. So I decided a crazy bucket, would be the mangled face of Dillon after getting his face smashed with a hammer, probably the most unappetizing bucket- which is all the more reason why it would go viral. In my advertisement I created a theater chain "Legal Cinemas" a spoof of Regal Cinemas to avoid any copyright issues or to miss-inform people believing this is an actual Regal popcorn bucket.

Blog #58 Creating a Trailer

Here is the trailer I made In movie marketing a trailer is truly the centerpiece, its what you push the most, and gets a majority of the audience interested - meaning they are IMPORTANT and must be done right. A good trailer can make or break a film, directly effecting its profit. A trailer must properly market a film, giving the audience a feel of the tone and themes of the film, while giving a glimpse at the plot and revelations, without revealing any spoilers. While my trailer is 1 minute - 1/5th my films runtime(quite a big chunk) about half of my trailer is title-cards and its designed that way to both show less footage from the film, and make the trailer more appealing, 1 minute is a good runtime for a trailer, more like a teaser for a feature film but this is a short -guaranteeing more views, spreading the film across a broader audience. I chose Clay Walker's Hypnotize The Moon as the main track of my trailer, due to its similar blend of genres as my film, or at least in lyr...

Blog #57 Editing

 Editing is one of the most important parts of filmmaking- and is easily overlooked. It is a major process in post production which can take close to as long as it takes to film a movie or even longer. While the shots and actors are what make a movies composition, lighting and given tone, editing can create entirely new tones and feels for a film; transforming a boring scene of someone walking, into a suspenseful one. And not only can editing create a films tone, but it also determines a film's pacing and runtime; pacing being especially important if given a set runtime, and pacing vital to keep a film entertaining and keeping it from losing steam or traction throughout.  Now that I understand the purpose of and how important editing is, I can begin it on my project I began with a rough cut, where I compiled all my footage into a single cut, and edited it accordingly to get a grasp of where my film was at; my rough cut ended up being 6 minutes and 48 seconds.. thats well over ...
