Blog #55 Filming Day 3 - Scene 3, shot 1 + 3

 This is really just a one shot, but on my story boards I had it split up between shot 2, which I might cut this up when editing it but for now its a full one shot. We filmed on Tuesday February 24th. -last day of filming -last shot!

As per usual with the more complex shots, I like to go over my original scene plan by myself and with the actors Gavin and Lauren, so that we can plan it out in the physical space, get some rehearsals/ trail runs it, and hopefully nail it within the third try on camera

I wanted Anna to be lurking in the background like a horror movie killer, stalking their victim before killing them, in this case asking them out - hinting even before we meet Anna that she is malicious.

Like the previous part with Anna, I wanted this to feel like a horror movie also, Anna was behind Dillon, and far away from him, and suddenly she appears in front of him.

The canted angle in this shot hints at the dark truth behind Anna, being part of the cult.

This being an early on shot, I really wanted some consistency, especially because this is the only time we see Dillon be his true raw self, hes original and sticks out from everyone by wearing white instead of black.. until Anna keeps him in check later.

And with that filming was done!

  The Empty Man (2020) I want to make a horror short film that focuses on a single character who is alone in their house and is stalked and attacked by cult members. Right now my ideas and plans are all over the place, and I will do research and brainstorming to lower down my thoughts and get a solid story with clear messaging. I also want to look back at my previous final project, which is also a horror film with a gore set piece, and piece out criticisms and improvements I can make this time around. As I am creating a short film focusing mainly on one character I will also look into short and effective forms of character development, so that my film can introduce it's character, play out its story and have clear messaging in a natural pace that keeps the audience entertained throughout.

FADE IN   INT. SUBURBAN HOME - DILLONS BEDROOM - MORNING                        1 An alarm buzzes as DILLON wakes up to turn it off, and begins his morning routine; DILLON works out in his home gym, then opens instagram and looks at people's stories. DILLON then brushes his teeth, showers and gets on the school bus. CUT TO: INT.
