My film from the surface is about a highschool student being stalked by a cult, and then invaded by them and killed by them - it is, at least from my perspective, a great metaphor for feeling consumed by expectations and the opinions of others, issues and anxieties all the more common with our social media focused society, people making comments and posting pictures of themselves online. the metaphor of a cult works really well due to Dillon being stalked while he was unaware, just like how many kids on social media can easily get consumed by it, and subconsciously try to be someone they are not, unaware of the effects it has on themselves and their mental health. And of course the other side of the cult metaphor is my interest in horror films.
The main reason I want to analyze my cult, and so late into production - its already be filmed, is because these elements will primarily be added in post production and editing.

still from Osgood Perkins': Longlegs (2024)
To go into an inspiration; Longlegs instantly became one of my favorite horror films after I watched it, probably top 20, and one of my favorite things about it, is that the way some of the shots are, and the effects in them, each time you rewatch the movie you (avoiding spoilers) notice more and more details hidden within shots, creating the rewatch almost more unsettling then the initial viewing, as you watched a whole movie and didn't notice these crazy unsettling details looming in the background of shots starting from the very beginning of the film and continuing through the whole film.
That is kind of the effect I now plan to achieve when I begin post production on Flawless. Like I've already stated I want to get a giant eye ball in the sky made of stars or comets looking like a godly astral being; deity, and that would be its true form to us - thats purely just for cinematography reasons and what might work and look the most realistic, the metaphor is just the eye; Dillon feels the pressure of everyone judging him. But I want to go into each scene in my film, and hide some imagery of the Eye deity itself, in shots of Dillon on his phone or with Anna, maybe not to the subtlety of Longlegs as they had excellent shadows and scene layouts, but just some intricate details to make the scene at the end more impactful, and make the pay off more rewarding.
And thats about as fleshed out as I plan on making the cult, not very at all, for the sake of it being more of a metaphor then anything, and why try to fit in unecessary lore into a 5 minute short film.
