Blog #43 Filming Day 2 - Scene 5, Shot 1
Onto filming day 2, today there are some pretty complex shots all around, at least probably the most complex Ive ever filmed or directed, so, starting off strong; Scene 5, Shot 1, another one shot.
We rehearsed the scene about 3 times before testing it with the camera, just going along the paths on the plan, and making the movements organic, allowing Gavin and I to work around the obstacle of myself/ the camera. I used verbal cues to tell Gavin when to open the door, and when to sit on the couch, however by the time we started filming, the cue to sit down was not needed. It took 2 attempts to get the final shot right, which was easy due to going over the scene plan and rehearsing the shots movement.
Dillon walking out of the bathroom - Midshot - Tracking shot
Dillon watching Predator - High angle - Pan
The consistency of the one shot conveys how Dillon feels good, he doesn't suspect anything, and his life is going well for him(he believes so), and the final part of the one shot; the high angle hints at the cult members stalking him. I am very happy with this shot, and will definitely use it in the final project
