Blog #25 Creating/ Designing Poster 1

 Now that I have a proper title I can make a poster for my film to finally start properly marketing it. I will be using Canva once again to design my poster, the look I am going for is just a standard title poster like that of the iconic Jurassic Park poster, but with some added details and effects to make it stand out and pop amongst other posters; Ill be treating it as if its displayed next to other posters at a theater, attempting to make a well designed and eye catching first look for my film. 

Here is the poster I came up with

As you can see, I think I executed the "simple yet detailed" look quite well, being a very basic poster format, with an original horror/ romance flair. The blood represents the horror aspect and promising gore in the film, the roses represent the romance; them being black hinting at malicious intent within the relationship, and the horns represent the cult in-which Anna is a part of. Which will entice and inform audiences on the films genre hybridization in a subtle way that does not give away any plot or story beats.

  The Empty Man (2020) I want to make a horror short film that focuses on a single character who is alone in their house and is stalked and attacked by cult members. I plan to include a practical gore set piece in my short film, and I plan to base my short film off of themes of self love, identity, worthlessness and toxic relationships. Right now my ideas and plans are all over the place, and I will do research and brainstorming to lower down my thoughts and get a solid story with clear messaging. I also want to look back at my previous final project, which is also a horror film with a gore set piece, and piece out criticisms and improvements I can make this time around. As I am creating a short film focusing mainly on one character I will also look into short and effective forms of character development, so that my film can introduce it's character, play out its story and have clear messaging in a natural pace that keeps the audience entertained throughout.

SUBURBAN HOME - DILLONS BEDROOM - MORNING                        1 An alarm buzzes as DILLON wakes up to turn it off, and begins his morning routine; DILLON works out in his home gym, then opens instagram and looks at people's stories.
