Blog #23 Creating/ Designing a Title Card
Now that I have chosen my film's title: Flawless, the next step is to design a proper title card, which I will use on posters and in the film itself. A title card allows font and other unique design choices to apply to the title of the film, which will greatly aid my film in particular because as I previously mentioned; Flawless does not instantly communicate horror or gore; major factors and themes in my film. Therefore my goal in designing a title card will to be to fully convey my film's tone into it, to the fullest extent possible. I will be using Canva to design my title card.
Above is the title card I was able to create.
I chose a gothic font, as gothic aesthetics are commonly associated with horror and love, hinting at some of the main themes in my film. Expanding on the horror theme, I chose to have the text red akin to that of blood promising gore in the film, while still hinting at the romance elements of the film as red is associated with roses as well. The most unique part of my title card is the reversed-upside down-reflection of the word Flawless, quite a far-out choice and unusual choice, which makes the title card pop out, and differentiate my film from others with its original and unique take on the horror genre. The upside down text also looks like that of a foreign language or ancient scripts that a cult may use ritualistically, as the main imposing malicious force in my film is a cult.
